The historical village of Erindale, located in the W12 district, can be found just west of Toronto along Dundas Street West. Erindale has a rich and interesting history dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries, during which time French trappers gave Credit River its name of Riviere du Credit. The name originated from the Aboriginal people, however, who called it the "trusting river" because they were often able to purchase supplies in exchange for their woven baskets and furs based on credit.
Soon after, Credit Village was formed along the river. The name of the community was changed twice, however, before it finally settled upon the name of Erindale

University of Toronto - large Mississauga campus is located on the river's west bank
Erindale Park - 221.1 acre park featuring 1 playground and 5 picnic facilities, making it the largest park in Mississauga
Credit River - offers numerous opportunities for hiking, canoeing, fishing and nature watching

Thanks to the Erindale GO Station located to the east of Credit River, travel in and around the Erindale community is made much simpler. Due to the high level of traffic the station receives, it is the only one on the Milton line to have two separate tunnels connecting the parking lot to the train platform.
