As part of the W13 district, Clarkson Village rests in the middle of Lake Ontario, Oakville, Erindale, Erin Mills and Lorne Park. The community is comprised mainly of upper and middle class homes, though many of Mississauga´s industrial sites are located within the community as well.
Clarkson Sites and Attractions
Clarkson is home to many of Mississauga´s major attractions. Some of these include:
- Bradley Museum – contains displays focusing on the life of Ontario´s early settlers and is host to numerous special events throughout the year
- The Anchorage – a Regency cottage that was built in 1837 and is currently located on the grounds of the Bradley Museum
- Benares House – home built in 1918 that is now home to an interpretative gallery and hosts monthly screenings of classic Hollywood movies and other special events
- Rattray Marsh – lakefront marsh offering trails, boardwalks and bird watching opportunities
The Clarkson GO Station, which is located on the Lakeshore West Line, is considered to be the transportation center for the Clarkson community. In addition, the Mississauga Transit provides local transit service, which makes traveling within the community quite simple.
Living in Clarkson
With its numerous employment opportunities, including the Petro-Canada Oil Refinery company and Orion Bus Industries, many Clarkson residents do not have a long work commute. Clarkson Secondary School, which serves students in grades 9 through 12, is also found within the community.
Although Clarkson is well known for the small farms located throughout the community, there are also many condo developments available. Some of these include:
- Stonebrook Condominiums – a contemporary building sitting on 4.5 acres next to a creek
- Park Royal Village – offers panoramic views of Toronto and Lake Ontario
- Walden Glen – modern high-rise structure located within walking distance of Lake Ontario
- The Sheridan Club – elegant building offering mainly 1 and 2 bedroom apartments
